Crème Brulee Halo Fryer Recipe

Breville Halo Crème Brulee

 

Cook up a French classic Crème Brulee in the Breville Halo fryer. Our Crème Brulee recipe has been made with brown sugar to caramelise and raspberries for a fruity finish, but of course you can amend to your taste with some classics such as lemon, amaretto and chocolate.

Difficulty: Easy

Preparation time: Less than 30 minutes
Cooking time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

250ml double cream
1 vanilla pod, or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
50g caster sugar
3 free-range egg yolks
Brown sugar for the topping
Raspberries to decorate

In addition to the Breville Halo, you’ll need

Saucepan
Tin foil
Four ramekins
Whisk

How to make Crème Brulee in the Breville Halo

  1. Remove the paddle from your Halo Health Fryer
  2. Pour the cream into a saucepan. If you are using vanilla pods, split it lengthways and scrape the seeds into the cream. Then chop the pod into small pieces and add to the cream. Alternatively, pour in the vanilla extract.
  3. Bring the cream to the boil and then turn the heat down so that it is simmering. If you have used a vanilla pod, strain the cream to remove it and then add the cram back to the pan.
  4. Meanwhile, whisk the egg yolks together in a bowl until they are frothy, and then whisk in the sugar.
  5. Pour the cream into the eggs and sugar, whisking constantly. This will slightly cook the eggs and the mixture will thicken.
  6. Add the mixture to four ramekins so that they are approximately two thirds full, and then place the ramekins in the Halo Fryer bowl.
  7. Carefully pour enough water around the ramekins so that it reaches half way up the sides.
  8. Cover the ramekins with a circle of foil, and cook for 30-35 minutes until they are set.
  9. Once set, remove the foil and sprinkle the tops of the crème brulee’s with brown sugar. Cook uncovered for a further 5 minutes until the top of the crème brulee’s go brown and caramelized.
  10. Serve with raspberries.

 

 

Breville Halo Victoria Sponge Cake and Cupcake Recipe

This recipe is a quick all-in-one sponge cake recipe, suitable for 1x25cm sponge, or 6-8 individual cupcakes/buns.

Difficulty: Easy

Cooking time: 40 minutes

Serves: 6-8

Ingredients

100g softened butter or margarine

100g caster sugar

2 eggs

Few drops of vanilla essence

100g self raising flour

½ tsp baking powder

How to bake a sponge cake in your Breville Halo

  1. Remove the paddle from the Halo and line the base of the Halo tin with baking parchment, making a small centre hole to fit over the paddle recess
  2. Using a spatula, spread the cake mixture over the base of the Halo tin, ensuring the mixture reaches the sides. Even out the micture to ensure the cake rises evenly during baking
  3. Place the cake inside the halo and set the timer for 15 minutes. Press the ‘On’ button
  4. At the end of the baking time, remove the tin carefully from the Halo, using the handle attachment
  5. Place the tin onto a wire cooling rack for 5 minutes to initially cool. Turn the tin over and the sponge will easy turn out. Peel off the baking parchment and leave to cool for 30 minutes

The single layer sponge can be topped with cream and berries, or repeat the above steps and create a further sponge to turn into a Victoria Sandwich Cake.

 

Filling Ideas

Whipped cream, seedless raspberry jam, butter icing filling, fresh or frozen berries are all perfect ingredients which can be used for this light golden sponge.

 

Individual Cup Cakes

Prepare the above sponge recipe; filling 6-8 silicone cupcake mould ½ full with the cake mixture

  1. Remove the paddle from the Halo
  2. Place the filled moulds inside the halo tin, close the lid and set the timer for 10 minutes
  3. Once cooked, carefully remove the Halo tin and place it onto a cooling wire. After 5 minutes, remove the cakes from the tin and cool for a further 15 minutes before decorating

Breville Halo Scone Recipe

Ingredients

225g self raising flour
70g butter
Pinch of salt
25g caster sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 medium egg, beaten (made up to 160ml with milk)

How to make Scones in your Breville Halo

  1. Remove the paddle from the Halo and preheat the Halo for 5 minutes
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt, rub in the butter until it resembles breadbrumbs
  3. Stir in the sugar, then add the egg and milk mixture until a soft dough is achieved
  4. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and gently bring the dough together
  5. Pat out to a round shape approximately 1 ½ cm thick
  6. Using a 6cm cutter, stamp out rounds, using the remainder of the dough by kneading together lightly and cutting out further scones as you go
  7. Place the scones carefully into the Halo, brush the tops with some milk, close the lid and set the timer for 8 minutes
  8. Once the scones are ready, keep in the Halo for a further few minutes until cool enough to handle
  9. Delicious served warm with your favourite jam and whipped cream

Breville Halo Thai Fishcake Recipe

Our Thai Fishcake recipe is ideal for cooking in your Halo health fryer rather than deep frying for a full, flavourful and classic fishcake.

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Serves: 4

 

Ingredients

325g white fish (e.g Haddock, Cod or Pollack) skinned and chopped into pieces

2 cloves of garlic, peeled

1 medium lemongrass stalk, outer leaves removed and roughly chopped

1 thumb size piece of ginger, peeled and cut into slices

1 red chilli, cut into pieces

4 spring onions, cut into 1/2cm pieces

Handful of coriander

2 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp olive oil

Zest of 1 lime

Pinch of salt

1 medium egg

1 tsp sugar

 

In addition to the Breville Halo, you will need

A food processor to make the paste, and some vegetable spray or oil for lightly greasing the Halo bowl.

How to make Thai Fishcakes in the Breville Halo

  1. Place the garlic, ginger, lemongrass, chilli, spring onions and coriander into a food processor bowl and pulse until a smoothish paste is achieved
  2. Add the fish, fish sauce, lime zest, sugar, salt and egg and whizz together in your food processor until smooth
  3. Place in a bowl and chill for 15 minutes
  4. Remove the paddle from your Halo fryer and spray the base of the bowl with a low fat cooking spray, or simply grease with a little vegetable oil
  5. With the fishcake mixture, form 8 small patties and place into the Halo bowl
  6. Set the Halo’s timer to 15 minutes and cook until golden brown
  7. Serve with some Sweet Chili sauce for an extra kick!

Breville Halo Vegetable Chilli Recipe

 

Packed full of lentils, peppers, beans and courgettes, our Vegetable Chilli recipe is a delicious alternative to chilli con carne. Made in the Breville Halo Fryer, our recipe is packed full of flavour, you can adjust to add your own vegetables and make it as spicy as you like. Finish the dish off with some steamed rice and sour cream. A delicious snack or meal for both vegetarians and meat eaters.

Ingredients

    400g kidney beans, drained
    200g butter beans, drained
    400g chopped tomatoes
    100g red lentils, washed and trained
    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    1 large onion, diced
    1 medium sized courgette, diced
    1 red pepper, deseeded and chopped
    1 yellow pepper, deseeded and chopped
    1 tbsp chilli powder (more or less according to taste)
    Thumb-sized piece of ginger, chopped
    1 Halo spoon measurement of vegetable oil
    1 tbsp tomato puree

     

    How to make Vegetable Chilli in the Halo

    1. Fit the paddle to your Halo Health fryer
    2. Add the garlic, ginger, onion, courgettes, and peppers.
    3. Drizzle with 1tbsp vegetable oil from your Halo measuring spoon, and cook in the Halo for 7 minutes until softened.
    4. Add the chilli powder and cook for a further 1 minute.
    5. Remove the paddle from your Halo fryer and stir in the lentils, tomato puree, tomatoes and 100ml vegetable stock. Cook for 15-20 minutes longer until all the vegetables are tender.
    6. Stir in the beans, and cook for a further 10 minutes until piping hot and heated through.

    Tip: Served on a bed of boiled rice and top with a little sour cream

     


Roasted Root Vegetables Halo Fryer Recipe

Breville Halo Roasted Root Vegetables

These roasted root vegetables are perfect as an accompaniment to your Sunday roast. Cooking them in the Breville Halo will make them a super healthy, high in fibre alternative to roast potatoes, and any leftovers can be used to make a hearty winter soup!

Please make sure that your vegetables are cut to a similar size. For the likes of butternut squash and celeriac, why not use the left overs to make a hearty winter soup

 

 

 

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sized carrots, peeled, halved lengthways and cut into chunks
  • 2 parsnips, peeled, halved lengthways and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 small butternut squash, de-seeded, peeled and cut
  • 1.2 small celeriac, peeled and cut
  • 1 tsp ground cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

How to make Roasted Root Vegetables

  1. Place all vegetables into a bowl and drizzle with a Halo measure of vegetable oil
  2. Add the cumin seeds, coriander, salt and pepper and stir well to combine
  3. Fit the paddle to the Halo fryer and place the vegetables inside the bowl
  4. Set the Halo’s timer to 35 minutes and start cooking

For an extra spicy twist, drizzle the vegetables before cooking with a little honey and a scattering of dried crushed chilli.

We’ve opted for a creamy tomato sauce, but there are plenty of sauce options to choose, from cream sauces to cheese sauces.

Ingredients

For the meatballs

  • 500g Pork mince
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs or oregano
  • Pinch ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 Halo spoon olive oil

For the tomato sauce

  • 500g Passata
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • Slat and pepper to taste

How to make Swedish Style Meatballs

  1. Place the onion, herbs, cumin, garlic, pork mince, egg yolk and seasoning into a bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Sprinkle over the flour and stir again and gather all the mixture together into the centre of the bowl.
  3. Now, you’re going to need to get your hands a bit dirty – using floured hands, break off walnut sized amounts of the mixture and roll in the palm of your hands until you have a small ball, place onto a clean plate, and repeat until you have used all the mixture.
  4. Remove the paddle from your Halo Health fryer and all the meatballs to the Halo bowl.
  5. Measure 1 tbsp of olive oil with your Halo measuring spoon, and drizzle over the meatballs.
  6. Set your Halo’s timer to 15 minutes and turn the meatballs half way through cooking.
  7. Once cooked, at the tomato sauce ingredients to the Halo, and cook for a further 10 minutes until cooked through

Tip: Meatballs are delicious served with pasta and some wilted spinach

 


Hunters Style Stew Halo Fryer Recipe

Breville Halo Hunters Style Chicken Stew

 

This Hunter’s style stew is also known as ‘Cacciatore’. Traditionally the stew is a tomato-based Italian dish, but you’ll find lots of spins on it. Our Halo recipe is simple, but extremely tasty, and cooking it in the Halo fryer has healthier benefits than frying in a pan. You need less oil, but flavour is not compromised.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 sausages, chopped
  • 4 rashers of streaky bacon, cut into small strips
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 courgettes
  • 100g of mushrooms
  • 100ml Crème Fraiche
  • 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 225ml dry cider
  • 1 Halo spoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp chopped rosemary
  • Salt & Pepper

 

How to Make Hunter’s Stew

  1. Fit the paddle to your Halo Health Fryer, and add the onion to the bowl. Drizzle over a Halo spoon measure of vegetable oil
  2. Cook the onions for 5 minutes in your Halo, until they start to soften
  3. Whilst the onions are cooking, marinate the chicken in salt and pepper.
  4. Add the chicken, bacon and sausage to the Halo bowl, and cook for a further 15 minutes until the chicken begins to turn golden brown
  5. Add the chopped rosemary and courgettes or mushrooms.
  6. Next add in the mustard and honey followed by the cider. Simmer gently in the Halo for 20 minutes to cook through and allow the cider to reduce.
  7. Add in crème fraiche, and your Halo Hunters Stew is ready to serve

 

Tip: Hunters Stew is delicious served with creamy mashed potatoes


Thai Red Chicken Curry Halo Fryer Recipe

Curry in a hurry? Impress your friends and learn how to make an authentic Thai Chicken Curry in the Breville Halo Health fryer. Making your own Thai Curry is easier than you may think, especially with the help of our healthy fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 stalk lemongrass finely sliced
  • 1 Halo tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3-4 tsp red Thai curry paste
  • 4 chicken breasts cut into strips or small pieces
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 4 freeze-dried kaffir lime leaves (optional)
  • 400ml coconut milk
  • 20g fresh coriander

 

Kaffir Lime Leaves are the fragrant leaves of the wild lime tree, and are only optional, but we recommend adding them to your Thai Red Curry for a truly authentic taste. You’ll find them in most supermarkets.


How to make Thai Red Chicken Curry in the Halo

  1. Fit the paddle to your Halo Health Fryer and add the sliced onion and chopped lemon grass to the bowl. Drizzle with a Halo measure of oil.
  2. Set the Halo’s timer to 5 minutes and cook until the onions begin to soften.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and Thai paste and cook for a further 10 minutes.
  4. Add the fish sauce, sugar, kaffir lime leaves and coconut milk and carry on cooking for a further 15 minutes until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, strip the leaves from the coriander stalks, gather into a pile and chop very roughly. Taste the curry and add a little more curry paste to suit your taste. Stir half the coriander into the curry and sprinkle the rest over the top.

 

Tip: To add a bit of crunch and colour to your Thai Curry, you can add Mange Tout, Sweetcorn and Red Peppers. Thai Curry is delicious served with Thai Jasmine Rice
