Come on Breville ditch the sticky labelsI had one of these kettles for a couple of years then one morning it stopped boiling. The lights came on but no heating. I liked the stay hot principle so I bought another the same. Much like another reviewer on this page, I was so annoyed that there was a massive label on it which when peeled off left a hideous sticky mess. I am still trying to get it off now 1 week on having tried various products. Come on Breville, surely you want people to love and admire their new kettle? Nobody is going to leave that unsightly sticker on. There are plenty of labels out there which peel off with no mess - it’s time you changed to one of them?!!!

Breville are cutting corners!I bought a new Breville to replace an identical one. The reason I bought another was because when we bought the first, the cable from the power base was the only one in the shop that reached the power sockets in our kitchen. So when it failed, it made so much sense to buy another. Guess what? When we got it home, Breville had made some manufacturing savings and the cable is now a good 7 inches shorter and doesn't reach the socket! Please remember, not everybody has sockets built into the work surface. Won't buy another Breville if I have to move the socket. Why should I when I can get better for cheaper in another brand?

Very practical but major functionallity problemI am now on my third such kettle. The design suits us perfectly. You can see the water level, it boils so fast and you can open the lid while holding the kettle therefore making refilling and topping us extremely straight forward. If it wasn't for the button you use to open the lid always failing to operate after a time then I would be giving 5 stars. The only reason I have renewed this kettle is because of its practicality, such a design is not that common, as three out of three have now had the same problem with that lid opening button function. I doubt I will be buying a fourth, now searchig out a better equivalent!!

Nice kettle, eventually. This kettle came with a huge sticker on it which partly tore off leaving behind adhesive and some paper. It took us an hour with 'sticky stuff remover' (which we had to buy specifically for this) to get the adhesive off. If you are buying this kettle, also spend extra on sticky stuff remover - add that in to the cost. And forget about olive oil which works on sticky lables, it didn't work on this. In use we are still getting a metallic taste after about 15 boils, although it's much less noticeable now.

turned out terribleAt first it was brilliant just what i wanted with the LED`s but after about 6 months it started leaving a plastic taste in every boil, when i descale it and use bicarb of soda its ok for 2-4 days then the plastic taste returns it still boils and changes color but useless for consumption.

Dreadful kettle - do NOT consider buyingFollowing the advice in the manual we boiled water in it (twice) and threw it away; then on to make the first cup of tea. We both spat it out as the tea tasted metallic. We tried again but it was no different. After googling the problem we made a solution of bicarbonate of soda and left it overnight, followed by salt, followed by vinegar all to no happy end. We must have spent the price of the kettle again in electricity trying to get rid of the foul taste. Kettle returned! Avoid!

Removing sticky labelI bought this kettle from Amazon when I unpacked it there was a large label on it, please see photos. The instructions state remove all packaging and labels before first use. When you can eventually lift the edge of the label you find a layer of gum is left behind please see photos. Cleaning the gum proved difficult, I started with washingup liquid on a sponge then stainless steel scourer (non scratch but it leaves scratches), then used alcohol spirit whith the scourer which finally removed all the gum but we left with fine scratches on surface.
Why does a label which repeats information found elsewhere need to be stuck with permanaent gum. It is not the responsibility for customers to remove adhesive and damage a new product.
The Kettle by the way works very well and appears efficient.

Broke after 2 1/2 monthsSeemed good for the short time it worked, but it just gave up on being a kettle the other day. Keeps failing to boil - light just keeps going on and off. Shame after only 2 1/2 months of use
