Nearly perfect but ...Why have never bought one of these before?? It's GREAT. My wife and I both really like it. Fast. Efficient. Accurate dispensing. So why not 5 stars?
Simply that the selector dial is too fiddly for our 'mature' fingers. We use different sized mugs, so we keep having to turn the selector to 'our' position. A really simple enhancement of an easier to turn knob (with a little bit more 'click' as well) and it would have got 5+.

What boiling water? Cup dispenser does not deliverI have 2 main complaints about this hotcup hot water dispenser.
1) It gives the impression it dispenses boiling water. Not true. I measured the temperature as soon as the water was in the cup. It read 95 degrees centigrade and reduces rapidly. As a result my cup of tea now tastes differently.
2) Description says it dispenses regular cup quantities. Not true. The levels, if doing more than one cup after each other, gives different quantities so be careful. Can set to high water levels for the first cup and use the stop button when the required level is required.
If you can put up with these faults, which I, then it is a useful machine and will save you money as it only heats up the quantity needed, not the whole kettle.

Developed a catastrophic faultThis item was very good initially, but recently it has become unusable. Atfer dispensing one cup, instead of switching off it proceeds to dispense another and the only way to stop it is to disconnect it from the mains. The stop button does not work at all. Descaling it has made no difference. It will sometimes boil all the water in the tank too. The troubleshooting section of the manual does not mention this phenomenon.

Great for my disabilityI purchased this a few years back when I was struggling with a kettle it's still going strong and is fantastic best thing I ever purchased. I have to use a jug to refill as it's very heavy to lift and fill so i just fill a jug push button to open lid it's so easy. It's great with the various size options so cater for all mug sizes. I also use this for making gravey and custard its suitable for all needs

Awful machineI purchased this after my smaller Breville dispenser stopped working. I had this for 2 months only when it started to dispense the wrong amount of water for the setting it was on. So I rescaled it as advised and it did not resolve the issue. On the highest setting I get under 100ml of hot water. I have descaked it again but still no good. I contacted where I purchased it from (online) and was told I could send it back for it to be looked at but it was to be sent back at my cost. Not happy at all

Economical, convenient, safeI bought one for my elderly father who was struggling to pour from a conventional kettle. It immediately gave him safely from boiling water and was so convenient that I bought one for myself. (By the way, the reservoir is quite heavy when full but my father just filled it in situe using a jug. Turn off at the mains temporarily while filling if you do this.)
I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement (if you read these reviews, Breville.) First, while having the whole thing light up while it's on is pretty, the place you really want the light is shining down into the cup! Second, the knob for adjusting the amount of water dispensed is fiddly, especially for elderly fingers and eyesight. It would be much easier if there were several separate 'dispense' buttons, one for each size of cup.

Not suitable for my purposesI bought this because i have MS and it was becoming increasingly dangerous for me to lift and pour boiling water from an ordinary kettle. However, the Hotcup is not suitable for me: first the reservoir us very heavy and i cannot lift it if it is more than a quarter full of water. Second, you cannot fit anything other than a cup or mug under the spout eg. a teapot won't fit.

Still going after years of useOur Breville HotCup is still working perfectly after years of being used in a busy household. The cup size selection knob is now showing the white plastic rather than the silver plus the button you press to open top for filling does release the top but the spring has stopped working. Other than those two minor things it looks like new and works brilliantly..
