Rated 5 out of 5 by Dk188 from What a brilliant machine I was so excited to try this coffee machine, I have wanted one for a while. I found it very simple to set up, the instructions were easy to follow for setting up and working out how to make the coffee. The first two attempts I didn’t quite get the milk temperature correct, but the 3rd time I mastered it and now can make it so easily. It tastes just like it would had you went to a coffee place. I’m saving so much money as I would buy a takeaway everyday! It is at the higher end of the price range but when you work out how much I would spend of coffee a year, the savings are so much higher! I would highly recommend this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yeatee from Well designed machine, makes excellent coffee I recently installed this device and started making coffee with it with all default settings. Even so the result was already very well. My previous machine was a Lavazza modo mio cup machine and yesss, even compared to this relatively good cup machine, the taste of the coffee coming from this machine is so much better. Also I am pleased with the design. There are many well thought through details, operation is relatively simple (of course you have to be a bit more barista compared to a cup machine and there is more cleaning work involved) and it heats up quickly. The manual is well written, yet you do need to invest time to learn the device well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HowitzerUK from Can make decent coffee, with some effort Decent little machine but does require some tweaking to get the most out of it. For example, the grinder. Mine consistently grinds 15g when the shot counter gets to 2.0, I have to take it up to 2.7 to get the suggested 19.5g, at which point coffee spills all over the place, so get yourself a dosing cup. And some scales. Secondly, 60ml from 19.5g of coffee is a bit too much, a ratio of 2-2.5 produces a much nicer espresso. Luckily tweaking the shot volume is super simple and I've not got it producing espresso that's comparable with the sage barista express this was purchased to replace (as it gave up the ghost). TL;DR - Capable machine once you get it dialed in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PeterDw from Why does this machine feel like a secret. I'm assuming that this is the replacement for the original Barista Max as it has all of the great coffee making potential with a host of great extras such as grind and shot timers built in (no need to faff about with starting timers on scales or phones). Does great steaming for milk recipes and comes with everything you need to be able to create a café style coffee within a matter of minutes (including a few pulls to dial everything in). I came across this machine entirely by accident at my local Currys when shopping for a Christmas present for myself. I searched for reviews and found a total of only two youtube reviews and a 14 minute video from sage about how to use the machine. I would advise anyone looking for a great, sub 500 pound machine to grab this up as fast as they can. It is going for 399 at Currys at the time of writing this. Having used both the Max and the Max plus I'm genuinely puzzled as to why no-one is raving about this machine. You may wish to hurry and get one before Breville wake up to what they've created here!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Iriska from Easy to use, delicious and aromatic coffee Coffee machine has got simple design yet it stands out in the kitchen as high quality, nicely designed and appealing appliance, suits any kitchen style. It’s quite heavy in weight and at some cases may be difficult to move around. On the top of machine there is removable bean hopper to regulate extraction speed from faster to slower for both grinding and preparing coffee itself. Also coffee grind from course to fine texture and to regulate the taste of espresso. It has got a big water tank which either can be taken off or simply lifting the lid up and putting water in. Instruction is explained step by step and easy to understand, also I like that it states how to prepare different kind of coffee (latte, cappuccino, white flat). It may take time to get used to this appliance but if instruction is read carefully and with some practice than it’s easy to maintain it. Coffee grinding is fast and easy however it makes quite a lot of mess, coffee grinds spreading everywhere around. The bin on the ground is useful to clean up those grinds. But in general this coffee machine is easy to clean and care about. It sounds quite noisy especially it may be quite loud during milk steaming. Cons: Steam function takes a while to start. Have to be very careful when checking the temperature of the milk from the bottom of the metallic cup not to get burn. Have to get specific cups which would fit into under coffee preparing mechanism as it’s quite wide and it might not fit and coffee leaks on the sides and also not all long cups fit under there. This machine prepares delicious and aromatic coffee fast and easy. I would definitely recommend. It’s so amazing to have coffee at the comfort of your home as it is from coffee shop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Virtual Zombie from Great Tasting Coffee The Breville Barista Max+ coffee machine is stylist and would look great in a style-conscious kitchen. It resembles a professional coffee machine and would be great for any budding baristas / coffee enthusiast. It includes a number of features including 30 grind settings that are easy to switch between, however, the grinding can become a bit messy. For the average coffee drinker it will take a bit of time to get consistent results but when done right you get great coffee.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Loulabelle from Brwville Coffee machine Breville has got a lot right with this espresso machine. First things first: it makes fantastic coffee! Smooth espresso with a rich crema. Lots of options to fine tune your coffee to just how you like it (and to suit the beans you're using) The integrated conical burr bean grinder is superb (see my 3rd photo) The milk frother works very well. It looks fab on the worktop, very well designed to mimic commercial coffee shop machines. Large capacity water tank. Easy to clean There are only a few negative points; It's designed to fill two espresso cups at once, but they don't quite fill evenly. You can't froth milk at the same time as pouring espresso. Finally, the distance between spout and platform is fixed, so if you use low level espresso cups then you end up with splashes onto the machine, but all in all I am super happy with this!
