Great for my disability
I purchased this a few years back when I was struggling with a kettle it's still going strong and is fantastic best thing I ever purchased. I have to use a jug to refill as it's very heavy to lift and fill so i just fill a jug push button to open lid it's so easy. It's great with the various size options so cater for all mug sizes. I also use this for making gravey and custard its suitable for all needs

Very poor
I bought this product 2 years ago. It was working perfectly then it suddenly stopped. Not a very good service life for the price. Cannot even get spares to repair it so it is now scrap.

Gone wrong after a month
The water variation no longer works, even on highest setting you only get half a cup, so have to press more than once to get a cupful

Excellent product I love this
I love this what a fantastic bit of kit . I was impressed by the way it lights up blue and how fast it boils. I love how it knows how much water to also put in my cup. This is a excellent bit of kit. Looks good standing on my work surface to very impressive

NOT for hard water areas SOFT water only
I bought this and it was fantastic But we live in a hard water area and spend more time cleaning than using all the desacling products and vinigar washout drove me mad Finally given up the ghoast and got to throw out as not repairable due to limescale very disappointed Back to the kettle easy to clean. Very good if you have soft water

BE AWARE OF THIS HOT CUP JVK318
over the last few years i have 3 replacement kettles that have become faulty
after a year two kettles the lids would not open only with a knife but kettles still worked.the last kettle i using the light in kettle lights up now again you cant replace bulbs.customer service poor £60 breville kettle avoid save your money.

This is the second one we’ve bought after the first one developed a fault where the lid wouldn’t close down and the button to open stopped working. It looks like this is a design fault as the second one has this fault also. Going to go back to kettles or another manufacturer. Cheaply made product

Lid won't open
The lid spring on my kettle has snapped, which now prevents me from opening the lid to fill it with water. After reading other reviews, this appears to be a common fault with this model. The lid is held in place by just one screw, so it’s an easy part to replace, but after contacting Breville I was told that neither the spring nor the lid is available as a spare part.
Customers shouldn’t have to replace an entire kettle due to a small, poorly manufactured component. Breville should supply replacement parts for an issue that is clearly recurring.

Green algae
It's a great idea and we have used it multiple times a day but green algae has appeared inside the chamber but is totally inaccessible. It may not be lethal but the algae is best avoided.
As there is no fix, it will have to be added to the "white elephant" pile of gadgets - great concept, poor execution.

Stopped working two months outside guarantee
Purchased the one cup Feb 2024, eventually stopped working April 2025 after watching a slow daily death of the pretty blue LED’s. Cleaned daily externally and emptied before refilling, looked good while working and a safer bet than lifting or carrying a kettle.

Great time and energy saver!
I purchased this Hot Cup dispenser as I am fed up with my kettles (all brands) seeming to give up on me after a short period. I love that this is easy to use, just heats up the amount of water need for my cuppa and is easy to clean. I love that I can put my mug under the dispenser, and walk away from it, it pours just the right amount out and there is no waste. Stop button really handy too as quite a few other models didn't seem to have this function. Great addition to my kitchen!

The Breville Hot Cup water dispenser is ideal for a busy home! In one easy press you have boiling water in approximately 40 seconds, saving time and electricity! I’ve discovered that I use boiling water for much more than I thought! It’s perfect to boil water for tea, coffee, instant hot chocolate, soups, noodles and just for general cooking on the hob! There is a dial on the top so that you can choose how much water you need to fill the specific cup/jug you are using! The water tank illuminates when in use so there is a definite distinction between idling and operation. It’s easy to remove the tank from the base and fill up with little effort! The dispenser is stylish and classy looking and fits perfectly in any kitchen! It’s a wonderful time saver and allows me to boil just what I need effortlessly!!

best kettle i have brought
best kettle I ever brought got it last year and it was brilliant last few times I have used it its boiling it self even when button is off so looks like I will need a new one I might even get the bigger one with the stop button I only fill the kettle with a jug has I cant pick it up to fill at tap would recommend this kettle to everyone

Not suitable for my purposes
I bought this because i have MS and it was becoming increasingly dangerous for me to lift and pour boiling water from an ordinary kettle. However, the Hotcup is not suitable for me: first the reservoir us very heavy and i cannot lift it if it is more than a quarter full of water. Second, you cannot fit anything other than a cup or mug under the spout eg. a teapot won't fit.

Still going after years of use
Our Breville HotCup is still working perfectly after years of being used in a busy household. The cup size selection knob is now showing the white plastic rather than the silver plus the button you press to open top for filling does release the top but the spring has stopped working. Other than those two minor things it looks like new and works brilliantly..

Stylish, efficient
In todays climate any little thing helps. And this is brilliant. It only heats up and dispenses the amount to make one cup of tea, and dispenses it out like a hot water boiler, or a coffee machine. It's very convenient. You have to set it up with cup sizes, which wasn't to difficult, but I can imagine an older person needing help setting it up. Either way ita brilliant, easy to use and hopefully save some money on bills.

Easier to setup than expected.
Very clever piece of machinery, I am already used to it after 2 days. I am 93 and a bit worried with the boiling water from my kettle, that is now not a problem. I use a big mug, so max for the first flow then minimum for the second, fills my mug quickly and perfectly. I drink my tea without milk, and there is a SLIGHT difference in the taste. I did the pre boil routine before making my tea. I like it.

Time saver
I'm honestly so pleased with this Hot Cup Machine.
It's SO much quicker at boiling than my brand new kettle.
Really simple to use and all you need to do is push a button and everything is done for you... No wasted water, always the perfect cup amount.
My only fault is that it does splash a little but if you have your cup in the right place it's all good.
Really do recommend this

Safety design fault
I reported a safety fault to Breville as this kettle continues to dispense cups of boiling water until empty potentially scalding a child close to the worktop. I was told by support they will notify the design team. A very poor response to a safety concern. Anyone that has one of these should be careful and stopped using it immediately if the fault occurs. I don’t think Breville cares!!

Poor design and quality
1.Water never fully reaches boiling point.
2 Dispenser varies the quantity dispensed depending on how full it is.The adjustment know is inaccurate and very "fiddly" to set the correct amount of water dispensed.
3 Hinge spring broke when only just 2 years old, making it very difficult to open the lid - can only be done by forcing the lid open with a sharpish implement.

Hot water dispenser
I have purchased many of these appliances over the years as we are both disabled and unable to lift a kettle.However the latest one purchased in Dec 2021,so 18 months old and now out of warranty has stopped opening the lid to put water in. So totally not fit for purpose. Breville say out of warranty but offer us 20 percent off RRP. Not good enough.

failure to turn off and therefore keeps dispensing
After a while it has developed a very dangerous fault. As soon as it has dispensed the required amount of boiling water, it automatically starts the next boiling cycle. Even pressing the "Stop" button has no effect. You have to turn it off at the mains socket & wait for it to cool down before you can safely turn to power back on

Fantastic Buy
Bought this for disabled father in law. Absolutely brilliant. Carer keeps main compartment topped up. (Although not difficult and he can do) But he makes a hot drink with the touch of the button. Amount of hot water was calculated and now just presses button. Fantastic, couldn't be easier. Gonna get one for me now.
