Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasts less than 2 years On the positive side, it looks nice and you can boil just how much you need easily and quickly (though noisily). But it is not fit for purpose as the plastic top has now melted (after about 18 months) and deformed so that the lid no longer closes and so it doesn't turn off any more. It gets worse by the week as the steam is continuing to melt the plastic. Making a kettle out of a material that is damaged by steam is somewhat a design flaw. Breville offered me 15% off a new full price kettle. But I can get cheaper almost anywhere online, and frankly, I shouldn't need to replace a premium kettle within 2 years. It's not an incentive to buy Breville again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My second Greville kettle I purchased this kettle to replace Model J.K 147, which I had had for about 6 years. I like these kettles knowing that it is active when it glows blue, which is a good safety measure & they boil very quickly. The handle of the new model is more comfortable to hold & nicely designed. However the spout is now too small & the filter, being stamped from steel makes pouring hopelessly slow. The spout on J K 147 was a better size & the woven mesh filter let the water out quicker. I have now removed the filter from my new kettle & continue to be pleased that I chose Breville again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crumbling seal inside kettle ended up in my water Lovely looking kettle, heats water quickly and looks really smart. However. One day I noticed something floating in the water. On closer inspection it is part of the seal around the spout filter. When I touched this seal it crumbled to the touch and there was a fair bit missing, so for the past while we have all been drinking strange grey crumbly particles along with our cups of tea. More than a little disturbing. Not suitable for purpose at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from and long lasting too! the very similar clear Breville kettle this one replaced was in continuous service for over 20 years!!! I descaled it every Friday night with distilled vinegar, but 7 months of 3-5 builders six days a week has finally killed the old one. It began leaking at the base and the spring lid was not so spring-y anymore. The new lift-off lid will solve the spring problem. I was looking for a one-to-one replacement and couldn't find it until it came up as the Which?! Best Buy in clear kettles. It boils one cup of water in 7 seconds. It boils a full kettle in no time flat. It is quiet and doesn't use much energy, especially if you boil only the amount of water you need. It even got delivered AHEAD of schedule! The love affair has re-started. Thank you for making such a good-value product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very good looking Don’t waste your money for a kettle that will only last a couple of years. The plastic components will become brittle over time and break. Breville will not contact you for support after they have your money. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful looking kettle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy kettle, not a fan of the light This is a well made, well functioning kettle. I actually prefer this model which is sold in America, but not available in the United Kingdom. I prefer the American version, as it does not have the blue light. The blue light is tacky. At the very least, I wish there was the option to turn that on or off. Also, the metal rod going up the side isn't as lovely to look at and is also missing on the American model. While this is a great Kettle, it feels like it is an older or outdated model compared to the American equivalent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 years and counting Boils quickly, looks great, and it's as good as new more than 3 years on. If it broke tomorrow I'd consider I'd had good value for money. What more can you of a kettle?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far seems the best of its kind. I've become something of a connoisseur of glass electric kettles. Initially bought a Russell Hobbs. This looked fine but the lid hinge lugs snapped at 12 months. RH replaced it without a murmur but exactly the same thing happened a year later. Moved on to a Stella, better quality but more expensive. This was fine for a couple of years but on/off switch became less reliable and then started to trip the mains earthswitch! Breville looked good online and price reasonable. Quality appears good and finish better than RH. Don't mind the removable lid though some might. Unlike most kettles doesn't switch off automatically when removed from base. This is an advantage for tea makers as no need to switch back on after warming the pot but requires caution for coffee makers who might remove pre-boil and absent mindedly replace empty kettle back on base. Looks good works well but only time will tell how reliable.
