Cheats Strawberry Shortcake

This recipe uses up left over cake, if there is such a thing! You can also use store bought cake, perfect if it’s gone slightly stale.

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 1 slice of left over Madeira cake

  • Vegetable oil for greasing

  • 10-15g butter

  • 3 large strawberries, quartered

  • 1 tbsp maple or golden syrup

  • Aerosol cream

Method

Wipe the SnackMaster plates with a little vegetable oil on some clean kitchen paper, plug in and allow the unit to heat.
Place the slice of cake onto the bottom plate, close the lid and cook for approx 1 minute, before turning over to cook for a further minute.
Remove the hot cake and wrap in a little tin foil to keep warm.
Add the butter to the hot snack maker along with the strawberries and close the lid.
Cook for 2-3 minutes, occasionally stirring to evenly cook the fruit.
Place the cooked cake onto a warmed plate, top with the cooked strawberries and any juices.
Drizzle over the syrup and top with some of the cream.
A delicious quick and easy dessert!
