Great until the non-stick wears off
I used to have one as a kid and love toasted sandwiches. Bought Breville as a brand I can trust. Worked well for a year, but then the non-stick started wear off.
It most likely wore off due to us.
Now this is where it goes from 5 start to 1 star, Breville don't sell replacement plates.
I understand to do so is extra logistics and cost. These are manufactured in bulk and shipped etc. But what with more companies thinking about the environment and the right to repair, Breville is missing a trick to be a modern customer and environmental focused company. Plus it could be a new revenue stream as people replace the plates more often than the whole machines.

Fan of Breville sandwich toaster
I have been using Breville sandwich toaster on and off in the last three decades. I have bought supermarket own brand and in reality, they do not compare in build man ship. On the cheap ones, handles of snapped in half, awful quality non stick and terrible to clean.
I’m in my 50s now and wouldn’t go to any other brand.
What I like about Breville, is the quality, ease of use, the removable plates to wash. My only gripe is...I wish Breville gave the consumer the option to purchase additional plates. After a very long while, the plates non stick is sticky. So having to purchase another whole unit is really friendly on the environment.

Great but not so great
This toastie maker is the toastie maker all toastie makers should be judged against, but it has a dark secret, you can't buy replacement plates.
After a year or so the non stick coating wears off so the plates need replacing, but they aren't a replaceable part, you can't get them anywhere.
Shame on Breville for contributing to the ever growing E-waste mountain, having to throw away a perfectly serviceable machine that will give years and years worth of service all for a couple of heating plates, call me cynical but it smacks of built in obsolescence to generate more sales.

Not as good as expected
I purchased this breville toasted sandwich maker and I am totally disappointed with the product. It does not toast bread like it shows in the pictures. The bread goes rock hard on the crust and the sandwich is pale and not very pleasant to eat. You cannot deep fill at all. Even the smallest amount of cheese leaks out leaving nothing in the sandwich. Very disappointed and not worth the money. Would not recommend.

Terrible Product, Terrible customer service
I bought 2 Breville toasters for my older children as they went to university. I have been so dissapointed as both machines trip the fuses at their university accommodation and at our home address. They were brand new and you can tell from the product but I did not keep the reciept. I rung the customer service to discuss but they were not interested, I have wasted over £60 on these 2 products and can now only throw them in the bin. i was under the impression that when you bought a product it had to work but Breville don't believe this. I will never buy from this company again.

This is so versatile and easy to clean .. Yes!!
I had a Breville many moons ago and it was good but clean up was a nightmare, so imagine my delight when this turned up under our Christmas tree , the plates are easy to install and take out and the added waffle plate are my grandsons favourite, I also popped some triangles pasties in and hay presto my hubby and Grandson have ta favourite tea time triangle snack , and if you make breakfast toasties you can put whisked egg in prior and then they are ready to pop in the machine for the best toasties ever x thank you , my daughter in law has hinted for one for her kitchen , shush!! It's in the shopping basket , highly recommended ... oh did I say ,, EASY TO CLEAN , best ever

Great features
The breville ultimate deep fill toastie maker is a great kitchen appliance. It's really easy to use just plug in wait for it to heat up and put in the sandwich of your choice to make into a lovely toastie. I have use a few combination and have all come out great you can use different breads and fillings or even make cake bites or omelettes in. The toaster hold enough and is stylish modern and sleek i am definitely recommending this to family and friends.

Fab update to a great gadget
I had a toastie maker years ago and the issues was the cleaning. The removable plates for cleaning are genius and make life so much easier - worth it just for that. It takes some fiddling to get the bread in the right place to seal the edges but we’ll get there! The deep fill sandwiches are yummy because of the extra filling and we’re looking forward to trying the recipes in the book. I would definitely recommend this.
